CURRICULUM AND OBJECTIVES
l Provide
instruction to any student who would like to learn to play guitar
l Reach a level of
proficiency which would allow the student to pursue independent study of guitar
l Develop performance skills and an understanding of the performance
process
l Understand musical theory and vocabulary
l Develop self-discipline, group responsibility, and cooperation
l Encourage personal musical insight and communication
l Enhance critical listening and appreciation
l Encourage the use of music for the enrichment of life
l Provide opportunities to enhance self esteem
l Appreciate musical performances and their cultural connections
l Become aware of vocational and avocational opportunities in music and
related fields
