Economics & AP Macro Economics

Students examine a variety of sources of information, before proposing and evaluating solutions to past and present economic problems facing people and nations. Since real economic problems usually involve social or political causes and consequences, students are encouraged to apply what they have learned in other courses to the specific problem they are examining in order to arrive at a comprehensive solution.  The first semester, students form their own trading company.  Money raised through their economic activities is applied to an Economic Development project. While students are encouraged to take this course for the full year, it is possible to earn 1/2 unit by taking Economics for only the first semester.  However, any student wishing to take the class second semester would need the permission of the instructor.  Students who successfully complete both semesters of the course are prepared to sit for the Advanced Placement Macroeconomics Exam offered in May.
