Doe Eyes
Takehisa Yumeji's (1884-1934) work as an artist embodies the romanticism of the Taisho era (1912-1926). His bijin-ga (paintings of beautiful women) incorporate influences from ukiyo-e and Art Nouveau and suggest desire in their wide doe-like eyes. This is a poster for Yumeji's first solo-exhibition in 1912.
