Fuchu Daiichi

back

When the fourth grade went to Fuchu Daiichi we did various activities and I felt very excited to be there. One thing my buddy and I did was that we indulged in a game of Dodge ball at recess time. We also made Japanese crafts and we had a spectacular time. My partner and I also played some amusing Japanese games. One of the games we played was Japanese style badminton. The racquet was made of wood and shaped like a spatula. The badminton birdie was miniscule. We also spinned tops and played a cool game where you toss a ball in the air and try to catch it in a cup on the end of a stick. My favorite thing that my partner and I did was have lunch together. I really enjoyed dining on a scrumptious Japanese style lunch with my partner because that was the time that I really got to know and talk with her. It was fascinating to me how the teachers and students eat at Fuchu Daiichi. The students sit in sturdy wooden chairs at the table while the teachers recline on soothing tatami mats. I also really liked the Japanese dance they did and the sixth grade music performance. My visit to Fuchu Daiichi was different then my buddy’s visit to my school because I was not accustomed to Japanese culture and the way they did things at their school. I also had to wait for her to show me how to do things instead of already knowing how to do them like I do at my school. I didn’t have to slave away when I visited my buddy’s school because I was the guest. I had to toil when my buddy visited me because I was the host. Some things were alike and some things were not alike when we visited each other’s schools. One thing that was different was how easy it was to stroll through my buddy’s school. Her school was not as big as my school so we could get around easier. My buddy’s school had more floors than my school. Her school was higher but mine is wider. We both had opening and closing ceremonies at our schools. This was a unique opportunity for me to experience a Japanese school, be a part of it for a day, and meet my Japanese friend. Before we left, I gave my partner an exquisite present. It was a Japanese-American flag pin. I will definitely remember this day because it is a blissful memory.
