My FDI Friends
Fall:
I am going to tell you how I thought what would occur before Fuchu Dai Ichi came and how it really did turn out. Although my buddies were not what I thought, Risa and Miku were pleasurable. My buddies are not what I thought because they had different clothing then what I would think., because they had very comparable clothing to Americans. Secondly, they were very hard to converse with. I thought they would be acquainted with some English. Maybe they were just nervous like ME! Lastly, I thought they would be easier to keep track of my buddies. During the day Risa and Miku kept running off.
Next, I am going to tell about what I thought the day would be like. I thought there would not be a lot of time. They actually arrived early so we had extra recess. There was some rushing to leave though. As well, I thought it would be hard at recess. It really was not hard at all. It was easy to play with them. Also, I would think that the day would be frustrating. It turned out colossally fun!
I am now going to tell how I am looking forward to our expedition in February. I think it will be hard because we will be the guests now. Risa and Miku will probably be good hosts for us when we come. It will be cool to go to a Japanese school for a day. I had a thrilling time with FDI!
Spring:
When we went to Fuchu Dai Ichi it was one of the most exciting days ever! When we were leaving ASIJ it was very hectic and it felt like a long time before we got on the bus. I was scared when I first saw their school but inside I was excited. When we got there, there were 70-80 kids waiting for their partners to arrive. Our class buddies were holding up signs that said gdandelionh in katakana because that was our group symbol. After we found our buddies we went inside to change our shoes. I almost fell over trying to change into my slippers. There were so many shoes and they were all over the place. When we went to the opening ceremony they made many speeches and so did our school. The FDI fourth graders put on a play on Japanese toys and games. They also did some traditional dances. Then out of nowhere the sixth grade band came and played two excellent songs. After that, we went to their classroom and made traditional crafts. We made bumm bumm goma, which is a piece of cardboard hung on string. You spin it in circles then pull on one end until it un-spins. During recess, Miku, Risa, some other kids and I played kick base, which is kick ball with a few exceptions. At their playground they have stilts to walk on, bars to hang on and poles to climb on. Next, we had lunch in their classroom. They normally have a set lunch and everybody eats the same thing. All the FDI kids were excited that they got to bring their own lunch that day. After lunch we got a tour of the school. The school has four floors. It was very difficult to walk in our slippers across the slippery wooden floors. They have many interesting classrooms and all the kids were peering out to see us on our tour. We made our way to the gym to have the closing ceremony. Everybody sang gItfs A Small World After Allh and again there were many speeches. As we were leaving the school to get on the bus, the FDI fourth graders parted into two lines and waved goodbye to us as we walked between them. We felt like celebrities! When we got on the bus everyone was disappointed we had to leave. The three best parts of the trip were coming into the school and seeing all the kids waving at us, leaving the school feeling like celebrities, and the opening ceremony with the band. I hope we can go back to Fuchu Dai Ichi sometime soon.
