Our Fuchu Dai Ichi Exchange of 2003-2004 |

My Second Fuchu Dai Ichi Meeting On February 17, I went on my second Fuchu Dai Ichi exchange. I was really anxious and excited to meet my buddy again. On the day we were supposed to leave for my buddy's school, I was impatient and in a way nervous. When we arrived at Fuchu Dai Ichi, after what felt like an hour bus ride, I was really amazed to see how much bigger FDI was compared to what I expected. I was speechless. When I saw my buddy, I felt kind of shy. Now I know why my buddy was blank and untalkative when I first saw him. It felt like everything was really big compared to me, but I felt a lot more comfortable when I entered the school. I remembered what to do when I enter one, and it gave me something else to think of rather than the big world around me. After I went into the gym and settled myself on the gym floor, a band came in, and started playing wonderful band music. This band is so cool! After that we went to the third floor and went to our buddies' classroom. There we did crafts like byun byun komas, an addicting spinning string. After that we went outside to do a very long recess of some sort. First, we went down to the gym to play the Japanese style tops that are propelled by string that wrap around it. And after that we went down on the field and played traditional Japanese stilts and played a game of kick-ball. After being literally exhausted on the playground, we had lunch in the classroom. When we had to leave our buddies', we had a big tour of the school that displayed science projects all over it, and amazing paintings. When we had the closing ceremony back in the gym, Mrs. Reckord gave us a big speech and we sang a big round of "It's a Small World After All." At last, when we had to go home, I was half relieved that it was over, and half sad that I had to leave. Overall, I had a pleasant time, and I hope to go there again in the future. @ Page made by Jefferson March 2004 |
