The Times Of My Fuchu Dai Ichi Experience
Fuchu Dai Ichi was GREAT! My most favorite thing that happened at the Fuchu Dai Ichi School was the show of toys. My favorite toy that they showed and played with was the kendama or cup and ball. This is my favorite because my buddy was in that little skit. My second favorite thing was the tour of the school, which was practically a sort of pilgrimage. My third and last favorite thing was recess. They may not have a play structure but they had very fun games and toys like badminton, dodge ball, stilts, byun-byun-gomas, soccer, basketball, tops and all that stuff. Now here is a review of what we did at Fuchu Dai Ichi: first of all we had a bathroom stop, which wasn’t very exciting. Then, we had a forty-five minute bus ride to Fuchu Dai Ichi School. After the incredibly long bus ride, we saw our buddies again, which was very exciting because we finally got to talk to someone we haven’t talked to for four whole months. After that we changed from abundantly dirty shoes to never-before-worn-outside slippers and shoes. If you want to know what we did after that, keep on reading. We watched the principal of Fuchu Dai Ichi give his lecture about welcoming us to their school. He made a great speech. At the same opening ceremony they had a show of toys. There are six more events that we did at Fuchu Dai Ichi. The fifth event was where we made the byun-byun-goma. If we had more time, then BOTH sides would’ve been beautiful but we then had to go out to recess and that’s what we did. It was a very fun recess. We had lunch after I played dodge ball and badminton. It was a very long lunch to me. The lunch felt like hours. But sooner or later, we got to the tour of the school. It was practically like a pilgrimage because the principal didn’t say anything on the tour like "this is what a second grade classroom is like in this school." He was completely silent (or at least I didn’t hear him because I was in the back.) The ninth event that happened was the ending ceremony. The saddest thing that happened was the second half of the ninth event, which were the goodbyes. We couldn’t stay there forever. So I said my goodbyes to my buddy and my "new" friends and we went back on the bus. Page made by Sean March 2004
