·       All my words are correctly spelled with a whole lot of advanced ones. I used my spelling patterns, spell checked, a dictionary and a thesaurus.

·      All the punctuation, much harder than a regular fourth grader, is mostly correct. I can read my  paper so easily because of it.

·      I recognized just where to use my capitals that I approach perfection!

·      I can spell key, easy and some hard words correctly. I did check my spelling but I missed a  few.

·      I try to do what our class said was expected for a 4-F student but I didn’t do all of it. I checked, perhaps too quickly, and missed some.

·      Most of my capitals are correct!

·       A lot of words are correct that I should know. I didn’t check my work.

·      I can’t even really tell where one sentence begins and ends because of my punctuation. My work is hard to read and it doesn’t make sense.

·      I don’t use capitals at the right time. My mistakes are so obvious!

In October, 4-F students said they should be able to do the follow things in mechanics.

Capitalization

At the beginning of a sentence.

Proper nouns

Initials

Titles

And not in the middle of a sentence

Spelling

Simple words from earlier grades.

Use my spelling words that I have had or other hard words sometimes.

Try hard words out using the spelling rules we have learned even if I don’t get it all right.

If it is not a creative piece, be sure that my prefixes and suffixes are used correctly.

Watch out for homophones (two-to-too or there-their-they’re)

.

Punctuation

Make sure punctuation goes where it should

Apostrophes for ownership and contractions

End punctuation that matches the kind of sentence

No (  )

Commas for a list and after a opening greeting
