How To Get A Poptart On The Table By Jordan For my Rube Goldberg science project I decided to make breakfast more interesting. My project is toasting a Poptart, putting it on a plate and getting it on the table. To start my machine, first I start a set of rocking dolphins in motion. The dolphins are on an axle using Newton’s second law of gravity “an object in motion will stay in motion, unless acted upon by an outside force”. The dolphins hit a marble that then rolls down a corkscrew using kinetic energy. After leaving the corkscrew the marble hits a slinky causing it to walk down a series of stair stepped books. This is an example of using a spring and electromagnetic force. The slinky lands in a cup attached to a pulley device causing the cup to drop using gravity. On the other side of the pulley a metal ball is attached. As the slinky drops, the metal ball rises. When it gets to the top it knocks a series of dominoes down an inclined plane using inertia causing a chain reaction fall. At the end of the chain reaction the dominoes hit a baseball. The baseball falls of the end of a table using gravity, hitting the lever on the toaster. This causes the Poptart to start toasting. When the toasting has finished, the Poptart pops up and springs out of the toaster using force. The Poptart lands on a plate that has been placed on top of a skateboard. The skateboard, using wheels and axles, then rolls down an inclined plane and on to the breakfast table. Breakfast is served!!
