Opening And Closing Door's By:Nastassja In room 4f we have been watching movie's about simple machines like wedges and pulleys. Now we finished all the movies and we have to make a machine that include simple machines. For my machine I made a closet like opening and closing doors. To make my machine I have eleven steps .First you have to have the cardboard box you cut two doors in it. Then you add two screws and make a handle. The force goes down the screw, inclined plane wrapped around the pole to the bottom. Second you put a wedge behind the doors to make the other door open and that is the opener. A wedge is two inclined planes placed back to back. Third is you add a pulley to the side of the closet and that opens the door by pulling the screw. That is the energy of an object that is moving. The fourth step is you add wheels and axels on the wall witch makes the door's open with less effort. Wheels and axels are turning levers. Then you add another pulley. After the second pulley you add gears to make the door open. It is way easier to open the door. An object in motion will stay in motion will stay in motion unless something acts upon it. After that you put some string around the screw attach it around the 1st pulley then the wheels and axels then the 2nd pulley and the gears then you take a plate inclined plane) and in the middle you make a hole and put the string in it and make a knot and put rice on the plate. then under it you make a lever. It can be balanced and not balanced. On the lever you put a spring. It is a push or a pull. So if the inclined plane goes to low it will hit the spring and bounce back up. If you want to close the doors take some rice or something off and it will close. That is the machine I made out of simple machines.
