As part of our Bunka studies this year we learned to do shodo, or Japanese calligraphy in November. Smisson-sensei, an ASIJ Japanese language teacher taught us all the main strokes, and gave us some good background information about shodo. Each student then made their own character for "forever" on a piece of shikishi. While they are now hanging in our classroom as a beautiful display they will come home to you soon.
