E-mail Netiquette for Students

1.        Follow the below guidelines when Publishing to the Internet

·        If using student work, do not use full names, or include personal information

·         Teachers email address or alias will be used for any solicited replies.

·         All teacher or student work will appear with a copyright notice prohibiting the copying of such work without express written permission of ASIJ.

2.       Consider your message and your target audience.

3.       Be legal and ethical: Don't infringe on people's intellectual property rights.

5.       Use clear navigation:  relate to the area for which the pages are being designed     

6.       Use a meaningful page title: useful for book marking (This is the name that is displayed at the top of the browser, different from the "file name" in FrontPage. right click page properties.)

7.       File names: all lower case letters, no spaces, underscore may be used instead and limited to alphabetical or numerical characters.

8.       Design: 800x600 screen size for all entry pages to an area/sub-site, preview in various browsers and screen resolution sizes.

9.       Load time: be aware of target audience, potentially keep it under 30 seconds on a 28.8 modem.  

10.     At the bottom of each web page include the name of who maintains the page, with date and e-mail contact.
