THE BIGGEST BUBBLE
By Rachel Wilson

I blew the biggest bubble today. At first, I was just chewing on a piece of bubble gum. Every time I tried to blow a bubble, it just popped. But, since I was bored and had nothing better to do, I just kept trying.
Then I got it. A large bubble formed, but it didn’t pop. It just kept getting bigger and bigger. Finally, it was one-foot tall and one-foot wide.

Just then, a gust of wind blew into my room, and I started to float in the air. I eventually flew out the window. My mom saw me from the kitchen window and ran outside. She screamed, “Come back down here!” Tears were dripping down my face. I was so scared., but I didn’t want the bubble to pop.
I kept going higher and higher in the deep blue sky. My house shrank until it was gone. I was getting lonely when I saw the Eiffel Tower. “Paris!” I thought happily, until I scraped my knee on the tower. Blood trickled down my leg and dripped on people below who had their mouths open in shock. Several people ran over with television cameras, but the bubble got as big as the earth and carried me into space.

I passed by a space station. Several astronauts came out in their space suits and flew with me for a while. They saw my tears and bruised knee and asked me if I wanted pizza. I was hungry, and my jaw was hurting from keeping my mouth open for so long. But, with the big bubble in my mouth, the only sound I could make was, “Aaaaaaaaah.”
The astronauts asked me again, “What did you say?” This time I said, “I would like a pepperoni slice please!” As soon as I said that, the bubble went, “POP!”

The sound was so huge that everyone on earth heard it. Suddenly, I was zooming down like a comet falling into the atmosphere. Large pieces of the broken bubble gum were all over my hair, face, and body. I quickly took them off and made a parachute. I passed Paris again on my way down to earth. Finally, I saw my house. A large crowd of people were there. My mom and dad were waving and shouting, “That’s our girl!”

Finally, I landed safely into my dad‘s arms. My family gave me such a tight hug that they had bubble gum all over them, too. I also got hugs and high-fives from all those people who came out to see me. I didn’t get to eat pepperoni pizza with the astronauts, but I won the biggest bubble gum award.
