My Mom

By: Sabiha Hakimi

I love my mom more than anything in the world! She has always been there for me. Every year on mother’s day my dad, sister and I buy things and make things for her so she knows how much we love her. My mom would never disport or yell at anyone. I feel that my mom is the best mom in the whole world! (But I guess that’s how everyone feels like.)

Yesterday, my mom got sick. I wanted to stay home with her but there was an Eid party downstairs. (An Eid party is when it’s the end of fasting) I asked my dad if I could stay home for 30 minutes. He said that it was fine.

When my dad and sister went downstairs I brought my mom hot tea. She was drinking really fast. I have heard that it would make you better.

I slowly closed my eyes and saw my mom smile. When she smiles it makes my whole day happy. But today she didn’t smile, not even once. I checked her temperature and she was hot. I brought the medicine she told me to bring, her voice was not so great. It was like a frog in her throat. I called my grandma all the way from California. She gave me a recipe with lots of ingredients.

I made my mom a perfect bowl of soup. I brought it to her and in 3 sips she was perfect. She drank the rest of the soup. Then, I had to go down to the party. She took a long nap. When we came home, we all had dinner together.

I felt really good and proud of myself that I made my mom feel better!
