Popcorn
By Allie and Kamyl

Pop pop
Here it comes again
Pop pop
I can smell it now
Pop pop
It’s getting louder now
Pop pop
Where’s it coming from?
Pop pop
From the microwave
Crunch yum
Let’s go watch the movie now

Firecracker
By Olivia

Boom, boom
Crackle, crackle
Sounds buzzing in my ear
The smell of a burnt cigar
I wrap the blanket around my chilly body
Eyes amazed
Ears perked up
Mouth quiet
Quiet
Quiet
Quiet

Writing
by Olivia

My blue pen gliding
Across the perfect page
My imagination flowing
At every chance I get
I write
Write
Write
My hand aching,
Though I shake it off
Again and again
I write

Heaven
By Roxy

My soul slowly rises
Across the dark night sky
Higher,
Higher,
Higher
Past the clouds
I slowly appear…
Into a wonderful white
World.

Goldigger
By Roxy

He walks past me,
With a finger up his nose.
He is digging for gold.
He shouts out in class.
And annoys the HECK out of me.
He calls me stupid nicknames,
And is very ugly.
No…
Maybe he’s not that ugly
He has soft brown hair,
And warm chocolate eyes.
Maybe he’s not that bad at all.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm…

Swimming
By Allie and Kamyl

Swimming, swimming,
Back and fourth,
Making timers dizzy.

                                      Kicking, kicking,
                                      Hard as they can,
                                      Making water fizzy.

                                                                    Pumping, pumping,
                                                                       Arms flailing,
                                                                       Almost as fast as Lizzie.

Sky
By Allie and Kamyl

You see the sky
    It’s really high
I’m going to try to catch it
              I almost got it
                    Now have it
                       No you didn’t little one
You just got dad’s blue and white tie.

John Doe
by  Maggie

Once upon a time
Not very long ago
Lived a boy in a town called “Nowhere”
This boy’s name was John Doe

John Doe didn’t have any friends
John Doe didn’t know how to play
John Doe didn’t have any home
Or a family, anyway

John Doe had no body
John Doe had no name
John Doe was not a boy
John Doe was not a dame

John Doe wasn’t human
John Doe’s skin was white
His skin had black lines through it
It didn’t look quite right

John Doe was on paper
Please don’t make a fuss
John Doe doesn’t exist
John Doe’s anonymous!

Dandelion
By Ashley

Dandelions riding the wind
Puff
Puff
Puff
White fuzz balls containing life sail
With the wind
With my dreams and wishes
Puff
Puff
Puff

Spaghetti
By Ashley

Spaghetti, spaghetti,
Coated with layers of sauce
Alfredo,
Carbonara,
Pesto,
Bolognese,
Marinara,
Tuna,
Tomato,
Secret sauces too.
Spaghetti, spaghetti,
The Italian noodle with a variety of sauces.

Veil
By Ashley

There is an invisible veil that is with us all the time.
This veil is different.
Some people don’t notice it.
It is like a protector, maybe a shield.
A shield from the rest of the world, sometimes a shield that stops you from crying when something bad happens.
When your veil is lifted,
Emotions break out,
All sorts of things happen,
For you take in the fact that
There are really horrible things in the world.
The veil is there protecting you.
But is it a good thing?
