Our Japanese Folktale Study

by Ms. Snell's 1st Grade

In our first grade classroom we studied Japanese folktales. We read many different versions of each folktale. After children became familiar with the stories and characters, each child planned and wrote his/her own Japanese folktale. Children also designed covers for their story using origami. We then chose one of the folktales, The Rolling Riceball and performed a play with acting, singing, and dancing. We were also able to visit a Japanese temple during our study of Japan. We hope you enjoy our Japanese website.
