Once in long ago
Japan there lived a seven year old princess named Shannon.
Princess Shannon moms name was Nanami. She was a queen.
Shannons best friend was named Aya. They liked to play lots
of games together.
But Ayas family was poor and did not have enough food because the big, bad and very wicked oni stole all of their belongings. Everyone was too scared to fight the wicked oni, all but Aya. Every night the big, bad and very wicked oni would come out of the oni castle and steal almost everything.
But one day when the big, bad and very wicked oni was looking in his magic globe he figured out that Princess Shannon had a magic kimono. He got very, very jealous. The big, bad oni thought for a very long time. But he could not think of an idea because he knew that the kimono was magic. And the big, bad and very wicked oni did not want to get hurt, but he really, really, really REALLY wanted the magic kimono. Then he got an idea.
He was going to make a note and dress up like Queen Nanami, Princess Shannon's mom. Then that night instead of robbing all of the houses he put a fake letter in the mailbox. Then the next day after Princess Shannon got back from playing with Aya she found a note in her mailbox that said:
I am out shopping. I will be back at 12:00.
Love, Queen Nanami
Then a white and pretty small crane flew down with a note, a note from the real queen and it said:
I am picking up some things at the store and I will see you at 6:00.
Love, Queen Nanami
Then the big, bad oni knew that Princess Shannon knew that the note from the oni was fake. So he decided to kidnap Princess Shannon but the crane was magic and heard what the oni said.
So he flew over to Aya and tried to tell her but she didn't understand. The crane flew away. Aya went to look for Princess Shannon. For her lunch she packed onigiri and some beans. Then she went off on her journey. She met a cat. The cat was carrying a note. The note said:
Princess Shannon was stolen by the wicked oni. You can find her across the deepest river.
The crane gave it to the cat to give to Aya. Then Aya knew what the crane was saying.
Aya was going on her way to the deepest river when she met a mouse. The mouse was carrying a note that said:
On your way you will meet a dog who will give you another note if you give him a riceball.
Aya had to go back home to get a riceball. She went and met a dog.
The dog said, "If you give me a riceball I will give you a note."
Aya gave the dog the riceball but the dog followed her. Then met an eagle. It was standing by the deepest river. They did not know how to get across.
The dog said, "I can swim across and carry the mouse."
The eagle said "I am strong enough to carry Aya across the river."
They flew across the river.
When they got to the other side, they didn't know how to get over the walls of the castle. The dog thought maybe he could jump over the walls.
The eagle said, "I will fly over the walls."
Aya did not know how to get over the walls.
Then the eagle said, "Aya maybe could climb over the walls."
But Aya couldn't climb over the walls. When the eagle got in he stuck his claws through the keyhole and unlocked the door. Then they ran through the doors. The onis were very surprised to see them. They fought for a very long time. The dog jumped on one of their faces. The eagle was clawing them. Then they all got too scared and gave up. They begged for them not to hurt them.
Aya said, "Only if you give back all of our stuff I will not hurt you."
The onis promised not to steal the stuff and gave back all that they stole. When everyone is happy, the magic kimono is happy. It spread magic everywhere.
