Our first grade class studied trees as part of Our Changing Earth unit. Our study of trees helped children to become more aware of their immediate environment. Children worked in small groups and studied a tree outside of their classroom. They followed the cycle of the seasons and learned what happens to trees in each of the seasons. Children learned about the importance of leaves to the tree. They learned what you can tell about a tree from looking at cross sections. Children created a forest in their classroom. Children continued working in small groups researching the answers to some of their questions about trees. We hope you enjoy our website!
