Onis

Onis have scarlet faces and are ferocious. The onis are usually in Japanese folktales. Onis sometimes have three eyes. Onis like to steal. Onis sometimes have magic hammers that grant wishes. A long time ago some onis were nice. At the new year people throw beans and shout to make the oni leave and good luck to come. This holiday is called Setsubun. People shout "Oni wa soto!" This means, "Out with the devil and bad things." They also say, "Fuku wa uchi." This means, "May good things and happiness be in our home." Onis like to eat people. Onis have sharp fangs. Some Japanese people believe they are decendants of oni. Do not worry oni are not real.
