All About Kimonos

By Nina

The word kimono is usually used for the traditional Japanese wrap- around clothes. It is worn by men and women. It has rectangular sleeves and a sash called the obi. Usually people wear kimonos on special days like, Girl's Day and Boy's Day. Babies get kimonos when they are three years old. Yukatas are almost like a kimono but they don't have rectangular sleeves like the kimonos have. Yukatas are made of cotton. Kimonos are hard to put it on and you need the help of someone who is trained to do it.
