Giraffe: Predators

Predators : The giraffe doesn't have much to fear except when they're drinking because then they can't run or kick so the predators can jump on them. The giraffes' predators are lions and leopards. The giraffe's skin is so hard, it is very hard to chew.

Description: The giraffe's heart is 2 feet long and weighs more than 20 1b. The giraffe is the tallest animal on the savannah. The giraffe's foot print is larger than dinner plates.An adult male can have feet12 inches long and 9 inches wide. Giraffes from different parts of Africa have different coat patterns. People used to think that there were many different kinds of species of giraffes, but under the skin, all giraffes are pretty much the same.

Protection: The giraffes have really good eyesight so when the predators come near the giraffes could run. If a giraffe is very still it looks like a tree. The giraffe's kick is so hard that it can kill a lion. When a giraffe is in danger they are very quiet and warn the other members of the herd. The giraffe's spots look like its camouflage.

Interesting Fact: China was the first country to receive a giraffe as a political gift.

Danger: Hunters have killed all the giraffes in some parts of Africa.
