Zebras comunicate by braying or barking loudly .They can recognize aother zebra's voice. Zebras are noisy animals.

Extinct

The Quagga zebra is extinct. Burrchlas zebras are extinct also.

Description

Burrchlas zebras were the lightest colored zebras. Zebras have very good senses. Every zebra has a different stripe pattern. Zebras have eyes on the side of their heads.

Behavior

They will graze at a safe distance when lions are resting. They can run really fast for long distances. Zebras clean themselves in mud or dust.

Predators

Danger is everywhere for zebras even in the water. Their predators are hyena, lion, cheetah and crocodile. A hungry crocodile will eat a zebra.

Protection

When zebras stand side by side they usually stand in opposite directions. This helps them see in all directions. Zebras stay together for protection. They can kill an animal with their kick. Zebras all protect each other. Zebras use stripes to blend in and to confuse their predators. Zebras know when a lion is resting or hungry. To be safe they must all remain alert. Zebras live in mixed herds with gnus and antelopes.
