Black Panther

By Jackie

I am studying about the black panther. A panther can be about 3 to 5 feet and up to 28 inches. It's about 65 to 175 pounds or about 45 kg. It's also a mammal and a carnivore. It is solid black . It eats meat and anything it catches. Black panthers live in Africa and Asia on Savannahs and in rainforests. They live by themselves. They are endangered because their habitats are destroyed and they are hunted for their fur. A panther can have 2 to 4 babies in one day. They have the babies at age 2 and a half. They protect themselves by running, using their sharp teeth and claws. After the babies are born they stay with their mother for 6 weeks, then they go of on their own. A panther is so strong it can carry it's own weight up A tree! A panther is really a leopard but all black! Although there are 100,000 African leopards and panthers, they are still endangered.
