The African Wild Dog
by Kai
My research animal is the African wild dog. This animal has black skin but patterned fur. The African wild dog has large and round ears. It is 23 kg. The African wild dog is a carnivore. It is also a predator. It eats antelope and other savannah animals. The African wild dog lives only where there is a lot of prey. The pack travels in groups of 30-50 individuals. It lives south east of the Sahara. 2-16 babies are born at once. The babies stay in the den for 9 months. Only 1 female takes care of all the babies. The don't let the pupies hunt. The adults chase their prey until they pull it down. The pack tears the prey apart alive. On every paw they only have four toes. They sometimes get rabies.
