Zebra
By Khara
My animal is the zebra. It has black and white stripes. It is about 4 and a half feet tall. It is in the same family as a horse. My animal eats about 30 kg (66 lb) a day, which is more than I weigh! Zebras can share food without fighting. Zebras are grazers which means they munch only grass. Zebras have special teeth to eat the top of the grass. They live on the open grass lands of Africa where the grass grows longer and there is a lot of grass. Zebras live in a herd, so the lions can not get the foals. In a herd there can be about 150 zebras. A baby zebra walks within 30 minutes and stands within 14-15 minutes. The adult zebras usually, let the baby zebras eat more food. To protect each other the zebras bite and kick the lions. On the leg of the zebra the stripes are horizontal or side to side. The largest zebra is the Grevys zebra that can be almost 5 feet tall. Did you know that each zebra has a different stripe pattern? That is how they can tell each other apart.
