Termite

By Rubina

Termites are insects that have thick waists, antennea, and wings. Termites look like ants. Their colors are white and brown. Regular termites are one fifth to four fifths inches long. The queen is five and one half inches long. The queen is larger than the worker termites. Termites eat plants that have died and fungi. Termites live in colonies, like ants. Each of the termites has a job. The nest is made of wood bits, and is as tall as the ceiling. There is a king and queen of a termite colony. They live in warm regions, such as Africa and Australia. The queen lays eggs all her life. Male termites die soon after they mate. The queen can live for up to 50 years. Termites have strong jaws to fight ants. The termites live underground. There are over 1,000,000 termites in a mound.
