Cobra

by Stan

The animal I researched is the cobra. The cobra is about 30-60 inches. The king cobra can get up to 18 1/2 ft! The skin is gray brown or black and very scaly. The cobras expand their neck ribs for a hood. The hood makes the cobra look more frightening. Some cobras can spit venom up to 7 feet! Some cobra have colorful bands around their necks. Cobra eat rodents, frogs and other snaks. Some times cobras eat birds. The cobras kill their prey with venom and swallow them whole. The cobras are carnivores. Cobras live in forest areas, some in grasslands or deserts. Cobras live in the continents of Africa, South Asia and Australia. Cobras pile up dirt to make their home. Cobras gaurd their eggs to protect the eggs from predators. Not all cobras lay eggs! Some cobras have live young. Cobras kill 7,000 people every year because cobras go to peaple`s houses to eat rats. One cobra had 50 eggs at one time! Babies, when they are first hatched, can spit venom right away! The fastest cobra can go up to 7mph.
