Hyenas have brown, dark yellow and black fur. Males weigh around 107 pounds and females weigh over 120 pounds. The hyena lives in South Africa. The Striped Hyena lives in Arabia, India, Africa, Asia and the Soviet Union. Hyenas live in burrows or caves. Hyenas like to eat meat. Striped Hyenas like to eat reptiles, small mammals, birds and insects. Brown Hyenas like to eat melons. Babies like to play tug of war with bones. Female hyenas have 1-5 babies. Cubs will not leave the cave until they are 2 years old. Hyenas are related to the civet family. Hyenas have a 25 year life span. After a kill hyenas make a laughing sound.
