The Cheetah
by Katie
The cheetah has really dark, nice, black and brown fur. The cheetah is the fastest land animal in the world. It can run 68 miles per hour or 110 kilometers per hour. A cheetah cant pull in its claws. A cat has paws and they can pull them in and make them soft well a cheetah cant do that. A cheetah is 32 inches tall. They are 81 centimeters long, including their tail. The cheetah can be 86-140 pounds. A cheetah is in the cat family. But it is a lot different from cats you have as pets. It lives in Africa. They used to live in southern Asia and the Middle East. Now most of the cheetahs live in Africa. They live in the Savannah. The cheetah is also a predator. The cheetah is a scavenger and eats meat from other animals. They dont kill other cheetahs. For their diet , they will eat an ostrich or an antelope. They will not fight a lion or something like that because their bones are too thin. The cheetah can have up to 5 babies in a litter. When the mother goes hunting, she leaves her babies at home. Sometimes other predators get the little ones. When the babies are old enough to go hunting, she takes them along. A mother can have another every 3 months. The cheetah can run so fast that this helps it get away from its predators. Its also protected by camouflage in the Savannah. Grass makes him have good camouflage. Since a cheetah runs so fast, its tail helps it in balance. One cheetah never goes on a hunt by itself. They always go together.
