The Giraffe

The giraffe is an animal with a very long neck. It is 1,200 to 4,300 pounds and 18 feet high. It has brown spots, a yellow body and white legs. It eat s leaves and branches off trees. Baby giraffe begin their lives by falling down 6 feet to the ground. The baby giraffe is 6 feet tall and stands soon after birth. They protect themselves by running or they kick the animal with their large hooves. the hooves are deadly even for the lion. The giraffe is found in southern Ethiopia, Northern Kenya and flat grassy Savannahs. They use their head , hooves or horns to fight. They go for long periods without drinking water. Giraffes can eat more than 65 pounds of leaves and twigs in a day.
