Black Throated
Loon
The black throated loon is clumsy on land because its legs are in back of itself. The name loon may come from the Icelandic word "lomr" meaning "lame" or "clumsy." Loons spend most of their lives on water and come on land only to nest. Loons such as the black throated loon are somtimes called "divers."
Bearded Seal
Five kinds of seals live in the Arctic and the bearded seal is one of those seals. The bearded seal is one of a few species that has a nice tune. Although the bearded seal is named for its decorative moustache, it could also have been named SINGING SEAL. Many species of seal whistle, chirp and trill from time to time.
