Glaciers

Glacier pieces start to break off and they become icebergs. There are rocks and stones in glaciers. You can fall right through a glacier. When glaciers melt, they carry away soil with them. When glaciers melt they can drown lots of people. If all the glaciers in the world melted, lots of countries, cities and lots of other things would be under water. Pictures of glaciers are usually very pretty. Glaciers are made from snow going onto old snow. Not too many animals live near glaciers. Glaciers only have Caribou, Musk-ox, Arctic Wolf, Arctic Fox, Ermine, Arctic Hare, and the Colored Lemming.

 

Arctic Ground Squirrel

The Arctic Ground Squirrel was named tsick-tsick by a group of Inuits named Inupiat. Arctic Ground Squirrels get fat by eating seeds, mushrooms, and berries. Arctic Ground Squirrels hibernate. In their homes it is still 0 degrees F. In hibernation their body temperature drops from 98.18 degrees F to 26.4 degrees F. He has the lowest body temperature for a living mammal. Arctic Ground Squirrels have whitish short hair.

 

The Gray Wolf

The Gray Wolf is the largest dog in the dog family. The Gray Wolf tries to stay away from people because it is shy. The wolf is one of the smartest animals in the world. They do not attack anything unless it is hungry. The gray wolf usually hunts in a group called a pack. Gray Wolves have lots of gray hair.
