Native Arctic People

The Arctic people do not have wood to make fires. They eat seals, polar bears, reindeer, caribou, whales, fish and other animals. They sell modern day foods at super markets. The Arctic people share their catch/food. They use many kinds of animal skin and fur to make what they need. Some Inuit live in snowhouses which are made of big blocks of snow. Inuits wear very warm clothing made with fur from lots of animals. They wear assorted clothing such as a traditional costume comprised of mitts, hooded jacket, leggings, trousers and boots. The Onas, Yupik, Aluets, Tlinget, Tsimshain, Haida and Athapasken are just a few of the many tribes. Each different territory in the Arctic has it's own set of tribes. The people have to know the dangers to be able to survive. A lot of Samis still herd reindeers. Here are some of the tribes: 1. Alaskan Tribes: North Alaskan Inuit, West Alaska Inuit, South Alaska Inuit, St. Lawrence Inuit, 2.Greenland Tribes: East Greenland Inuit, West Greenland Inuit, Polar Inuit. There are many more tribes.

Natural Gas

Natural gas is found in such regions as Alaska, Arctic Canada and Siberia. There are lots of coal and many minerals found there as well. Vast fields of natural gas and oil have been found. All this digging for natural gas, oil, and other minerals has been a great disturbance to the peace of the Arctic wilderness. Many different pipelines have been placed all over the Arctic to transport oil and natural gas. Many forests, the tundra and many natural habitats have been either damaged or destroyed. With all the construction, many Arctic people have to give up their homes for the construction. The Arctic is turning into a big construction sight because many factories have been built. The once peaceful wilderness of the Arctic might be destroyed forever.

North Pole

The North Pole is at the very top of the world in the middle. It is very cold in that area because the sun rays don't go in the Northern area. There are many different tribes at the North Pole. The North Pole is in the Arctic circle. You need to be prepared in order to venture out into the areas of the North Pole. The weather is normally cold and snowy and the temperature is usually below zero. The lowest temperature recorded is minus 78 degrees F recorded in 1993! The Alaskan North Pole has a population of 1,671. How was the North Pole discovered? By a family called Miller who owns the tourist attraction Santa's house. Speaking of Santa, HO! HO!
