Puffin 
The puffin's stripes are bright. You might think it lives in the rainforest, but it doesn't. It is a small bird. It lives in cold places. They are black and white with small eyes and a long beak. They eat fish and swim. Because they have many feathers, they are able to remain warm. They have sharp claws. It's also a sea parrot. Their nests are along rocky coasts on land. In 7or 8 weeks, their eggs hatch. The chicks get taught how to find their own food.
Umingmak 
Umingmak is another way to say musk ox. It's a big shaggy animal. It is 7 feet long and weighs 900 pounds. It's enemy is a wolf . The Umingmak uses the two horns on his head to protect himself. Umingmaks like to eat grass. This animal must migrate in the winter to a warmer place to find food. The Umingmak can be found in Alaska, Canada and Greenland. A warm blooded creature, the long hair of the Umingmak allows it to survive in the Arctic. This wild animal is similar to a small buffalo. It's neck is 35 inches round and it has white legs. The Umingmak lives in herds of 20 to 30 animals.
Humpback Whale
Humpback whales are becoming extinct. Male whales will grow to 48 feet in length and females may grow to 50 feet in length. Weighing 38 - 50 tons, the humpback whale consumes a strict diet of krill. Traveling in pods, these warm blooded mammals migrate from the colder waters of the north, to the warm waters to the south during the winter months. They have small bumps on their face and on their body. They have no teeth, instead, they have a brush to capture the krill. The humpback whales have long flippers that enable them to leap very high. Many sailors have actually heard humpback whales singing as they swim.
