Three -Toed Sloth

Where it lives: The Sloth lives in Central and South American rainforests.

What it looks like: The Sloth has stiff grayish-brownish fur with bright spots in it. It's teeth have a peg like shape. It's fur can sometimes appear greenish because of algae that grows on it's fur. It has very long claws to hold on to tree branches.The sloth is sometimes mistaken as a bundle of leaves. The Sloths unusual head is very round, grotesque and flat. It's ears are almost hidden from veiw. It's about the size of a medium sized dog, about 2 feet long.

Habitat: The Sloth lives in the canopy of the rainforest in the Cecropia tree. It sleeps in the Cecropia and eats it's leaves.

What it eats: The sloth eats the flowers, fruits and leaves of the Cecropia.

Special Features: The Three-Toed Sloth has three toes unlike the two-toed sloth .The Sloth has a special bacteria in it's stomach that makes it hard for them to digest their food.

How do they take care of their babies: The mother takes care of the babies for the first eight months of their lives, the baby's father does not help take care of it at all.

What's it's enemy: The sloth's ememies are the Harpy eagle and the Jaguar.
