NARWHAL

Appearance: The male narwhal has a long spiral like tooth. The narwhal's back is speckled with gray, green, and cream. The narwhal lacks a dorsal fin. It is 3 to 5 meters long. Sometimes when the narwhals tooth is growing it pierces the upper lip.

Habitat: The narwhal lives in the arctic ocean deep, deep, deep, down. They love salty water! They live in Northern Eurasia, Northern America , and the Island Greenland. They also live by the Baffin Island.

Food: The narwhal usually feeds on Green halibut, polar cod, and flounder and occasionally shrimp and squid.

Enemies: Its enemies are eskimos. The eskimos hunt narwhals for oil, blubber, and food. They mostly hunt it for money.

Life Cycle: The narwhal is fully grown at 5 to 8 years. They stay with their mothers for a year. They are all white when born . They can grow up to 3-5 meters.

Other Facts: The narwhal is a mysterious creature. Long ago southerners thought the narwhal had magical powers that could kill them. Its inuit name is QILALUGAT TUGALIIT.
