Humpback Whale

Appearance: Just before the humpback dives he/she will breathe out the old air and breathe in the good air. He uses his blow hole on top of his head. The blow can be 10 feet high. Male whales will grow to 48 feet in length. Females can grow to 50 feet in length.They have bumps on their body and face. Humpbacks have brushes insted of teeth to help eat the krill. The long flippers help the humpback leap.
Habitat: Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Their group size is 1-3 whales. They live close to Alaska and Hawaii.
Food: When humpbacks are in the northern hemisphere they feed on shrimp and small fish and in the southern hemisphere they feed on plankton and they eat krill in both places.
Enemies: Humpbacks enemies are man, sharks and killer whales. There used to be 15,000 humpbacks in the world but now there are only 1,000 humpbacks in the world today.
Life Cycle:When a baby is born it has no air so he/she sinks to the bottom of the ocean so the mother pushes he/she to the surface to get air. For 2 years the baby drinks milk from his/her mother and learns how to hunt, escape enemies and how to leap high.
Other Facts: The humpback is one of the most popular whales in the world. The humpback has the longest fins of all whales.
