But in the summer their fur turns more brownish so they can blend into the rocks, dirt and grass to catch their prey. They have very thick fur on their paws that works like snow shoes so they don't fall into deep snow. Their hind legs are long and strong. That's why they run fast. They have fur in and on their ears.

Other Facts: A 40 pound lynx can run quickly across the softest snow chasing its favorite food, the snow shoe hare. The North American lynx will think almost any thing that moves is a prey. A bobcat is a lynx cousin. Lynx are very good swimmers and climbers but their climbing skill has ofen led them to death because it is a easier target for hunters to shoot them. The lynx has such good eye sight it can see a mouse 250 feet away and it can see a snow shoe hare 1000 feet away! That is longer then three football fields! The lynx is a mammal and a carnivore.
