Ming poets mostly wrote shih and tz'u poetry. Shih poetry was the very first type of poetry. Tz'u poetry was poetry with sentences that were uneven in length. They were also easy to understand when they were sung. This kind of poetry was ment to be sung. Ming poets wrote a lot, but they didn't make new styles of poetry, they copied other styles of poetry. Also, the Ming wrote stories. They didn't write in classical Chinese, they wrote in every day language. Three of their most famous books are Journey to the West which was published in 1592. It is based on a real character, but it also has made up characters. Also, Tale of the Water Margin was one of the three. It was published in the 1580's, and it was the most popular book. It was about some bandits. It was based on something that really happened in the Sung Dynasty. Last was The Plum in The Golden Vase. It's a story about a man who slowly destroys himself with terrible things. We didn't find out when it was published, but it was written in Wan-li's rule. That's the end of the literature page.
