The Ming dynasty was founded by a lowly peasant by the name of Zhu Yuanzhang {1368-98}. Zhu acheived supreme power and took rule to end the Yuan dynasty. The Hongwu emporer{Zhu Yuanzhang} reigned as Hongwu for thirty years. His son {known as Yongle emperor} reigned from 1402 -1424. He kept continiung the aggresive, despotic,polocies of his father. The Yongle emporer led five large military expiditions against several Mongol tribes. The emperor Yongle moved the government of the Ming to Beijing and made a huge palace called the Forbidden City. The Yongle emperor made sure that know one could see the beautiful palace and that it was to be protected completly or whoever came into the palace court would be killed. One year the Ming army was defeated by the Tungusic leader that founded the Qing dynesty. A year later the Wanli Emperor died and Zhu Youjian the Chongzhen Emperor hanged himself before the day the marking of the Ming ending. The rebal leader Li Zicheng left for Beijing and the Qing took over.
