At least 27 species of mammal have become extinct in the last 200 years and more than 126 species have become rare or endangered. Some species like the snow leopard and many other wild cats like the tiger, leopard; jaguar and panther have been hunted because of their beautiful skins. Others such as wolves and cougars have even been killed because they are thought to be dangerous when they would probably never attack a human unless in self-defense or if prey was really scarce. They are probably more scared of you. The Hawaiian monk seal and several species of baleen whales have almost been hunted to extinction for their blubber, meat and fur.

Each animal has made adaptations and lived in places that no human beings would ever dream. They can sing beautiful songs or change color, run faster then most cars can go.
