Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji

Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji are the three main alphabets of Japan. Junior high school students have learned at least 2,ooo Kanji characters. The very first alphabet called Kanji uses Japanese letters that were borrowed from the Chinese Writing. Katakana is useful for writing American words that don’t have a Kanji character. The Hiragana alphabet has 46 characters that are one or two strokes. Japanese children learn these characters in first grade. Hiragana means "woman’s hand".
