Judo is a form of unarmed self defense. The best aim is to use another person’s strength to throw him off balance. The word Judo means "The way of gentleness". Karate means empty hand. When the people of Okinawa had their weapons taken from them, they developed karate. Kendo means the way of the sword. It is the type of fencing which was used by the Samurai warriors. The swords are made of bamboo.
