Karate

by Ken

Japanese Karate and American Karate are not quite the same because Japanese was the first Karate. Only the first belt and the last belt are the same. In Japan the order is white, green and a little white, brown and a little white, black and a little white, then another white, and all green, all brown, all black. In American there is the white belt, yellow belt, orange belt, green belt, blue belt, brown belt, and black belt.

Most of the Okinawan people did not have weapons so the Okinawans invented a way to protect themselves without weapons. Nobody could take anything away from them. They called it karate and that means empty hands.
