Interesting Facts about Rice
Many of us eat rice from time to time. We enjoy this grain, but our lives do not depend on it. In many places rice is the difference between life and death. Rice is so important in some countries, that they have festivals and celebrations to honor this wonderful food. Also songs, poems and haikus (Japanese poetry) are written and sung about rice. Rice is even used in special occasions for example at some weddings they throw rice at the bride and groom to wish them good luck on their marriage in the US. Did you know that an average person eats about 300 to 400 pounds of rice a year! So remember whenever you eat rice, your eating a special food.
