Goals and Objectives

This course is designed to build on what Japanese language students have learned in previous years. The topics to be covered are similar at all levels and will include most of the following: family, daily schedule, school life, weather, restaurant, shopping, etc.

There will be an emphasis on oral/aural production; however, students will continue to develop language skills in all four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The learning of new vocabulary (including new kanji and kanji compound) will be included as appropriate for each topic.

Students will practice to express with sufficient accuracy and fluency on a variety of topics using the three modes of communication: interpersonal, interpretive and presentational communication. Use of technology is required. Students will be expected to integrate the language and cultural knowledge to communicate their personal perspectives on various topics.
