LITERARY CLUB INFORMATION
Chochin, the high school yearbook, is a club open to all students grades 9-12, but those interested need to demonstrate commitment and eventually talent as we strive to make a top-quality yearbook. Chochin members do various jobs: lay out pages using PageMaker desktop publishing; take, develop, and crop photos; write articles, headlines, and captions for a book of over 200 pages. It's a challenge, but a fun and rewarding one. Your work helps record some of the memories that become an integral part of the high school experience. Chochin Home Page. Daruma is ASIJ's high school literary and
fine arts magazine. Members of the staff select and edit manuscripts and
plan layout. Organizational meetings are held in the fall, but most work
is done in April during intensive daily meetings after school. The staff
is open to students in grades 9-12. Hanabi is the high school newspaper and we
welcome contributions from all the students. Much of the production comes
from the Writing for Publications class, but any student may submit
writing, turn in photos/art work, or help with computer desktop
publishing. Contact a class member. Library Book Club is open to all
high school students who enjoy reading. The members of the club
decide together on which book to read. Past selections have included
Bel Canto, Life of Pi, and Into the Forest. After school meetings,
which are generally held once every month, provide an opportunity for
membres to chat and discuss their views on the book in a relaxed
atmosphere. The members also conduct book and bake sales throughout
the year to pay for the titles they choose. |
