Category Instructions: 6-8 minutes. Memorized. No costumes or props. Dramatic presentation displaying definite and distinct characters. Although the performers may use the entire performance area, the focus of the presentation should be on the verbal exchange.

Judges        If all criteria are checked students must be recommended.

                    No students can be recommended unless all criteria are checked.

                                            CRITERIA

   (Please check the blank at the left of each criterion that has been met)

___ 1. Introduction is original and memorized. States the source of the selection
          (play written for radio, stage or screen) without giving the title of the
          work, or author's name. Sets the stage, providing necessary information
          about the theme of the drama.

___ 2. Transitions (if applicable) are smooth, and add clarity and
          coherence

___ 3. Characterizations are consistent with performance theme and
          style

___ 4. Characterizations are distinctive

___ 5. Delivery is unaffected, fluent and clear

___ 6. There is an appropriate balance between the two roles

___ 7. Presentation is within the 6-8 minute limit, including introduction.
