MULTIPLE READING


Speaker:   __________________________________________________________________


Selection:   __________________________________________________________________

 
Category instructions: 7 to 10 minutes. 4‑8 students participating. A speech event emphasizing reading and voice. May include poetry, prose, or drama integrated through a common theme. Transitional phrases or bridges permitted. Announcement of the title or theme is optional. Unison or choral reading, singing that does not dominate the production, color scheme - all permitted. Sound effects should come from the body, such as snapping, tapping, clapping, whistling, etc. No hand props allowed. Costumes permitted, but cannot be removed or used as props. Movement can include turning, standing, or sitting down on stool or floor, or walking a maximum of two‑steps in any direction from starting point. Scripts required. Original work is acceptable. Students must move onto the stage in a non‑distracting manner. Judging and timing begin when all speakers are in position on stage.

 

Judges:    If all criteria are checked group must be recommended.

                No group can be recommended unless all criteria are checked.
