At the American School in Japan this year we had
the fun of putting on a production of Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesserling.
The basic outline: Two old ladies, Martha and Abigail,
are "mercy killing" old men and women who come to rent a room. Their nephew
Mortimer, a theater critic, finds this out when he trips over one of the
bodies of the recently slain. Appalled, he must figure out how to get rid
of the evidence, protect his two batty aunts, keep his girlfriend from
discovering his morbid secret, and keep a fugitive brother at bay.
